Jul 25, 2017 In this blog post, I would like to show you how to install Toad for DB2 version 6.3 and IBM Data Server Driver. Using IBM Data Server Driver is a new option in Toad for DB2 version 6.3. Previously it was necessary to use IBM Data Server Client, but now it is possible to use this lightweight client. On Windows operating systems, the IBM Data Server Driver Package software simplifies application deployment. This driver, which has a small footprint, is designed to be used by independent software vendors (ISVs) for mass application deployment scenarios that are typical of large enterprises. I am looking for some help utilizing the IBM.Data.DB2.Core .NET Core package to access a DB2 database on the iSeries. In the past we simply used an ODBC connection and as long as the machine had the proper driver, we were good to go.
Ibm Data Server Driver Vs Db2 Connect
Download the driver you need by visiting the DB2 Fix Packs by Version page or the IBM Data Server Client Packages fix pack page, which contain links to all available Fix Packs The following command will retrieve the JCC driver version if executed from the command line: java com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Jcc -version; Or for drivers that are not yet installed. There is no need to install a GSKit. The client driver will create an internal key database and add the.
Ibm Db2 Driver Odbc
Now, we are looking to create some microservices that use Entity Framework Core on .NET Core and were looking at the data provider for DB2.
We encountered an issue with licensing, apparently:
Ibm Db2 Data Server Client
DB2Exception: ERROR [42968] [IBM] SQL1598N An attempt to connect to the database server failed because of a licensing problem. SQLSTATE=42968 [IBM] SQL1598N An attempt to connect to the database server failed because of a licensing problem. SQLSTATE=42968
I have attempted to follow the labyrinth that is IBM support to attempt to get the proper license file, but seem to be stuck at a dead end.
My first question is this, which I can't seem to get answered with a straight answer.. If I have DB2 on the iSeries, do I have to purchase some other piece of software (such as DB2 Connect, which I still don't know exactly what this is or what it does), or should I have the right to access that DB2 on the iSeries data via this .NET Core package mentioned above?
If the answer is no, no other software should be required to be purchased.. how to do I get that license? IBM support is asking for a site ID, which according to their records, our company has 127 site IDs, but the site ID I got from our IT dept (who don't seem to know exactly what they're looking for, either) doesn't have any licensed software associated with it. The only site ID that they have for our company at our company's HQ zip code they say is 'inactive'. So, I have been going around and around with various departments at IBM.eCustomerCare, Partner World, IBM SERV with no resolution to this.
Could someone help me understand what is required and why IBM is making this so hard to access our own server??
